Join me as I set off on a journey from Moscow to the steppe lands of Southern Russia, flying into Astrakhan as I embark on an adventure to the legendary Motherland Statue of Volgograd.
Astrakhan is one of the largest cities in Southern Russia, not far from the border with Kazakhstan, and I was very keen in visiting it because it's right in Astrakhan that the Volga flows into the Caspian Sea. The longest river in Europe, after crossing many cities all over Central Russia, finally meets its end in Astrakhan.
As I progress towards my goal to visit every single federal subject in Russia, I am proud to say that Astrakhan was number SIXTEEN!
Here's where I stand as of now:
Moscow βοΈ
Moscow Oblast' βοΈ
Saint Petersburg βοΈ
Leningradskaya Oblast' βοΈ
Vladimirskaya Oblast' βοΈ
Yaroslavskaya Oblast' βοΈ
Ivanovskaya Oblast' βοΈ
Krasnodarskij Kraj βοΈ
Tulskaya Oblast' βοΈ
Tatarstan Republic βοΈ
Tverskaya Oblast' βοΈ
Nizhegorodskaya Oblast' βοΈ
Kaluzhskaya Oblast' βοΈ
Murmanskaya Oblast' βοΈ
Ryazanskaya Oblast' βοΈ
Astrakhanskaya Oblast βοΈ
Which means I'm at 16/85. Still 69 to go! Hopefully a lifetime will be enough β οΈ
I didn't have the best time of my life in Astrakhan, but what was super-cool was the bus ride that took me out of Astrakhan into Elista, the capital of Kalmykia, the only Buddhist republic in Europe! I guess you didn't know about it, right?
Well, the bus ride from Astrakhan to Volgograd, to reach directly my final destination, would have been too long, as it would have an 8-hour bus ride. Too much for me indeed!
So I decided to go west instead, towards Elista, via a 5-hour bus ride, and break it down the trip in half in this way.

WHO AM I?
I started making videos for Youtube when I was a university student. I was always trying to find cheap getaways to do some traveling in spite of the adversities put in place by being a broke university student living on their own! Traveling became more and more a fundamental passion of mine, and now that I'm gradually moving on to make a job out of it I couldn't be happier, and I can only continue making this kind of videos both for mine and your enjoyment!
I also run an ONLINE SHOP with TRAVEL MERCHANDISE, feel free to check it out here π bit.ly/2x1Zzjf
