On May 23, 2026, Southern Railway 4501 made its long-awaited return to the classic green & gold paint that it so famously wore from 1966 to 1996. Some friends and I went down to Chattanooga to chase the debut run, and despite a wet morning it quickly became a gorgeous day for chasing the green mikado through Northwest Georgia. Unfortunately, the engine would suffer a mechanical failure during the photo runby at Rock Spring, leaving the passengers stranded for two hours while TAG 80 came to rescue the train. Luckily it was a minor issue and TVRM's shop crews were able to fix it before the next excursion. 4501 looks gorgeous in green, and I'm very thankful to TVRM and Scale Trains for giving my generation the opportunity to finally see this!
