On May 3, 2021 the North Carolina Transportation Museum hosted a photo special with Norfolk & Western 611 recreating the Tennessean, a streamlined Southern Railway passenger train that 611 and the other Js once hauled between Lynchburg and Bristol, Virginia. In the morning the museum's collection of stainless steel coaches was assembled to resemble the train as it was in its heyday - in the afternoon, some green Southern heavyweights were added to match the appearance of the train in its waning years. Despite being limited to the museum's low-speed trackage and some very poor weather the 611's crew managed to put on a decent show for us foamers and everyone had a great time.
