South Coyote is 309 acres of once agricultural land restored to wet prairie, riparian and upland habitat adjacent to Fern Ridge Wildlife Area near Eugene. The property is part of the Willamette Wildlife Mitigation Program, and biologist Tyler Robert has spent a lot of time overseeing the property’s conversion from agricultural land back to native habitat. Less than 1 percent of Willamette Valley wet prairie exists, so every restored piece reconnects wildlife to vital habitat.
