Source Elements Recorder is a free, browser-based voice-over recording tool that needs no software or DAW installation. In this video, Paul Maunder walks through the entire setup, from choosing your audio interface to hitting record on your first take.
Recorder is built for voice actors and VO artists who self-record from home. All you need is a free Source Elements account and a browser tab to get started. Paul covers picking your input device, sample rate and bit depth, setting your recording level with the built-in meter, and choosing an optional loudness target from presets like Commercial VO, Voice Acting, Film Dialogue, ADR/Dubbing, Podcast and Audiobook.
Once you're set up, recording takes is as simple as hitting the record button. Each take appears in a list where you can play, loop, mark, rate, lock or delete clips, and trim audio directly in the waveform.
