Klevgrand Altitude takes on Auto-Tune with real-time pitch correction, smart harmonies, and a vocal you can play from a MIDI keyboard. Here's our first look.
Klevgrand has built its reputation on left-field instruments and effects. This time it's gone after pop vocal production, and Altitude is the result. It's a real-time vocal performance station for the studio and the stage, and it folds a lot of what you'd normally chain together into one window.
In this video, we walk through Altitude's four areas of vocal processing. The pitch correction is formant-aware and runs with zero latency, so it holds up live as well as on a session. You can dial in a transparent fix that nobody will hear, or push it into hard-tune territory for the obvious effect. Punch-in mode lets you correct single notes and leave the rest of the take alone.
From there, it gets more interesting. Three smart harmony voices follow your lead in key and skip the dissonant intervals on their own. The Play module turns your voice into a MIDI-playable instrument. And the modulation section routes movement to pitch, formants, harmonies, pan and level for vocal textures most processors can't reach.
The big question is whether the tuning engine stands up to the industry standard it's being compared to. We get into that.
