In this video I showcase a Sony Xperia ION Prototype. This phone is an AT&T Developer phone or Dev Kit phone that was used by AT&T for testing purposes before the release of the phone itself. It is the same in terms of hardware when compared to the standard release model but has some software differences.
The Sony Xperia ION was a phone released in 2012 and was from Sony's 1st generation of phones released without the Sony Ericsson name. Despite this, all the 1st gen Sony Phones were indeed developed alongside Ericsson before the partnership ended in 2012. This is evident as this phone has Sony Ericsson branding on it and so did some production phones after it. The Xperia ION is an upper mid range phone with an amazing camera and ran Android Gingerbread initially, with updates to Android KitKat and Android Jellybean later all while using Sony's TimeScape UI Android Overlay. It also has a gorgeous 720p display with Sony's Bravia Engine enhancer software as well as a really good and loud Mono Speaker with Sony's Xloud software supporting it. This one is still on Android Gingerbread and In this video I go into detail about this Sony Prototype Dev Kit and cover all the main details like the Xperia ION display, Camera Performance, OS, Hardware, Speakers etc etc. I will eventually do a Using Sony Xperia ION in 2022 or Sony Xperia ION 2022 video very soon so stay tuned!
These are considered rare phones or collectible phones and I am keeping them in my phone collection since they are considered as a vintage phones or retro phones. This being an extremely rare phone makes it a definite collectors item and since I am a phone collector with loads of rare phones, this is one of the most valuable parts of my phone collection. My collection also includes Nokia Prototypes, Blackberry Prototypes, Motorola Prototypes, Sony Ericsson prototypes, Sony Prototypes, HTC Prototypes, Rare Nokia and other rare developer devices! These phones are no Android 11 or Android 12 powerhouses and It also ain't no iPhone 13 Pro Max, Google Pixel 6, Lumia 950Xl, Lumia 1520, Lumia 1020, Google Pixel 6 Pro, Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, Motorola Edge S or OnePlus 8T but are definitely interesting phones on their own!
