Hey all! I was listening to the Sonic Colors: Ultimate soundtrack during the last few weeks of my Fall semester and got a stroke of inspiration after hearing the Planet Wisp: Act 3 remix by Kenichi Tokoi. At around the same time that I heard the remix I had just learned about the deceptively powerful sampling capabilities present in FL Studio's "Fruity Slicer" plugin, and was just itching to try using it to sample the song's main piano riff. I couldn't sleep one night during finals week and basically stayed up working on this instead.
This track was a lot of firsts for me! First time chopping and flipping a sample. First time playing a melody on an actual keyboard instead of placing the notes with a mouse (that's really me playing on piano keys in real-time from 1:34 - 2:02! I know it might seem silly I'm so hyped about that but I haven't seriously played piano since the classical lessons I had when I was a kid. Getting back into it for this track was huge deal for me!) With all of these big "first times" I thought this would be a fitting track to kick off the new year! Happy 2022 guys, let's make it rock!

Fun Fact: this song was originally going to be a credits theme but our game didnt end up having a formal credits roll like the last one I worked on. My team was running short on time and we needed to submit the project as soon as possible, so I sort of cut the theme to work as a level theme last minute.
This version of the song is actually much longer than the one that made it into the final game, but it was the way I always intended for it to be listened to.

Yayyyy!!! Its finally done!
This one took me quite a while but heres a remix I did of Splash Canyon in the style of a Sonic Racing Crossworlds track! I tried super hard to keep the spirit of the original track while also introducing some more modern sound design techniques like the vocal chops, dubstep bass wubs, and the rave lead that comes in at the end of the final lap. This track was super fun to work on and I might do more Crossworlds style remixes because theyve honestly been a blast. Hope yall enjoy!
