While everyone else seemed to grow up with Sonic Adventure 2, I was stuck with Sonic Adventure DX for the Gamecube but man did I play the heck out of it. Even at a tender young age I was making jokes about the A M A Z I N G character animation with my sister and complaining about how Big the Cat levels were the only thing stopping me from getting the sweet ending level. However, what also stuck with me is the amazing soundtrack, which is why "Open Your Heart" is one of my favorite video tunes ever and also one of my favorite metal tracks in general. But since piano wouldn't work for covering that, I decided to go for another bopping track from the OST, the Station Square theme!
I've wanted to do a chill cover of this track since high school, but I was never sure of how to balance the melody, chords, and bass with just two hands. But years later, I figured out that I don't have to! Though you may not see him in the video, this cover features the legendary chill guitarist Hashel, a wonderful guy who helps run the Pixel Mixers community I do some covers for. As soon as he was available for a collab, I knew I needed to snatch him and his silky smooth tones for this cover.
So I hope y'all enjoy this nostalgic trip into Sonic's past! Next week's cover is kinda up in the air still, but if it turns out to what I hope it'll be then you won't want to miss it...

For real though, you guys have been requesting this for literally *years*, and finally as my Thanksgiving special for yall heres the biggest, baddest, and most head bang worthy cover of the Guardian Battle Theme from Breath of the Wild for yall to enjoy!
This cover has literally been requested for years, and Ive had basic ideas for this arrangement ever since high school! I didnt think that just a normal piano cover would be fitting for this blood-raising battle theme, so something more upbeat and hard-hitting was called for IMO. However, I couldnt find someone to collab with for the longest time until just recently. So far this year Ive collabed with so many more people than before, each of them blowing me away with what they send me, and each of them helping me to do arrangements that I never wouldve dreamed could be possible in the past. However, by far this has been one of my favorite collabs, and I couldnt have asked to work with anyone more talented then the one and only Ro Panuganti.
IDK how this man does it, Ros basically a cornerstone of the VGM with all the covers he makes, all the events he runs, and how much he pushes the boundaries to VGM cover and video production. Hes definitely been an inspiration for me, so it was surreal when he accepted the collab and even offered to do so much more than I had asked for him! I couldnt have been more happy with how this turned out with Ros guidance on it.
So I hope you enjoy this big hurrah for the end of November, for the next month itll mostly be easier more chill covers for me as I prepare to do a short gig at MAGFest in January! Hope yall had a happy Thanksgiving and dont die during Black Friday plz. As for me, Ill be sticking to Cyber Monday deals.

I did say that my last Final Fantasy cover was the Prelude from Final Fantasy XIII one I did a couple months ago, but I guess I lied...
First of all you may be wondering Wait, theres a Piano Collection for Final Fantasy XIV?? And to that my answer is Well yes, but actually no. There was a Final Fantasy XIV arrangement album called From Astral to Umbral which featured rock band arrangements along with solo piano tracks for some reason, and then apparently the solo piano tracks were taken and put into their own album with a few other piano arrangements and released as Final Fantasy XIV Piano Collections, even though Im not sure if it comes with sheet music. However, I was fortunate enough to find that the legendary themrzakid (whos done all sorts of high quality transcriptions of the Nier: Automata Piano Collections) had sheets up for this whopping arrangement, so I had to go and try it out! And dang is it lovely.
Just wanted to try out this cover since Ive been hearing so much hype for Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers, but I dont expect much traction on this 😔But if you did enjoy it, make sure comment below so I can hear you loud and clear! I really hope youll enjoy the majestic calmness of my cover of Serenity (or the Black Shroud theme) from the Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn! PLING PLING PLONG
This cover was a Patreon request from my fellow memelord Andrew Trigg! Funny enough, even I (a guy with minimal knowledge of Dark Souls asides from watching friends play it, speedruns, and the memes) recognized the tune as soon as I first listened to the song, so I was excited to tackle this classic and iconic piece. Cant believe I havent covered this VGM piano standard yet, but finally I think Ive learned to git gud as the Dark Souls peeps say :P
Funny thing about this particular recording: Even for all the emotional and nostalgic pieces on this channel, the closest Ive ever been to having an emotional reaction from performing a cover (besides popping off after finishing a really difficult piece) is feeling cold after playing Snowman from Earthbound. Ive always seen people in the Youtube comments section of this song and for the related Soul of Cinder from Dark Souls 3 say that those three piano notes make them start crying harder than an emo hearing the first G note of Welcome to the Black Parade. Since I have almost no connection with this game, I thought the same couldnt happen to me, but around 2:05 of the video I actually started tearing up during recording and couldnt stop until well after I had turned off the camera.
