This cover was a Patreon request from my fellow memelord Andrew Trigg! Funny enough, even I (a guy with minimal knowledge of Dark Souls asides from watching friends play it, speedruns, and the memes) recognized the tune as soon as I first listened to the song, so I was excited to tackle this classic and iconic piece. Cant believe I havent covered this VGM piano standard yet, but finally I think Ive learned to git gud as the Dark Souls peeps say :P
Funny thing about this particular recording: Even for all the emotional and nostalgic pieces on this channel, the closest Ive ever been to having an emotional reaction from performing a cover (besides popping off after finishing a really difficult piece) is feeling cold after playing Snowman from Earthbound. Ive always seen people in the Youtube comments section of this song and for the related Soul of Cinder from Dark Souls 3 say that those three piano notes make them start crying harder than an emo hearing the first G note of Welcome to the Black Parade. Since I have almost no connection with this game, I thought the same couldnt happen to me, but around 2:05 of the video I actually started tearing up during recording and couldnt stop until well after I had turned off the camera. Its crazy to think about well this song simply captures raw emotions, even without using any fancy techniques or even black keys (yes I made sure not to, just like the original).
Once again, thanks to Andrew Trigg for being a dedicated Patron and requesting this, and just remember: the real patrons are the friends we meet along the way :D Some less-somber-and-serious covers coming up for the rest of October, and yall already know something sp00py is coming up for Halloween...

So yall remember back in my cover of Proof of a Hero where I said Id like to try to get into the franchise with Monster Hunter Rise?
Welp, Im now over 300 hours into this game and I think I may or may not be addicted to this franchise.
The whole franchise has some amazing tunes (and orchestral concerts, AND official jazz albums, AND EVEN official piano covers...) that I cant believe Ive been missing out on for so many years. However, with this Rise Im glad to have been able to hear this track in-game. I knew from the moment I first heard those tense strings and that luscious melody kick in that I had to cover this song. What a fitting theme for such a thematic and emphatic flagship monster, Magnamalo.
However, there was so much going on in this song that I just had to make this into a piano duet to capture the full force and essence of the piece. Im super honored to have @WolfyMelon for this cover, as shes an amazing pianist whos been covering Monster Hunter tracks for a long time (and has already covered a lot of the tunes I wanted to try out sometime haha). I havent ever made a piano duet with a pianist that isnt myself before, so for my first try at this I am super happy with how the end result came out.

So you may be asking: Why did you put that link there ^ in all caps and everything? Well, if it werent for Tonor microphones, I wouldnt have been able to make this video in the first place! For the first time in my short Youtube career, a company actually reached out to me and asked me to try out their stuff! I was ecstatic, so of course I took the opportunity get a new microphone for covers in exchange for just advertising their giveaway. I decided to pull out ye old recorder that Ive had since 3rd grade that I used for my Mario Kart Wii No Trophy for You meme cover and try to do something semi-serious with it. Im so happy and fortunate to have this opportunity to work with Tonor, hopefully Ill be able to use the mic to record more diverse covers in the future (along with using it for streaming :P).
So you also may be asking, why Ori? Actually, Ive been listening to quite a few iconic indie soundtracks recently, and Ori and the Blind Forests OST was one that especially blew me away with how breathtaking it was. That, along with Ori and the Blind Forest being released on Switch soon and Ori and the Will of the Wisps coming next year, and I knew I had to get hype for all things Ori. Besides, this song is just too cute to pass up on!
Anyways, this cover was basically a perfect storm of things all combined, and I cant believe I actually managed to put this all together in a week o_0 Next week *should* (key word: should) be a solo piano track that may or may not blow your socks off, so stay tuned!

Its finally here! A nostalgic Nintendo classic, now with the DS Music piano flair!
This is a piece that basically every Nintendo fan knows and has been oft requested for this channel (this time, my Patreon fellas actually voted on this song). Ive barely played Super Mario Galaxy (tho I did play Super Mario Galaxy 2 to death tho. Loved the multiplayer!), but I still love the soundtrack so much. I wanted to make this arrangement mostly simple in order to capture the nostalgic happy feelings most people have towards this time in gaming, hence the nostalgic piano cover title. The process had uhhh *quite a few road bumps*, but somehow against all odds its finally out, so I hope you all enjoy the final product.
Let me know if you guys would like me to upload this to Spotify and iTunes and whatnot! Now that its an option for me, if I get enough requests on any song I can go and distribute it whenever.
Ill also probably be taking a break from uploading for a bit. MAGFest is coming soon and Ill be there with a gig to boot! Ive been wanting to cover this piece for a heccin long time (since I havent played a meme piece in forever, and no 433 doesnt count cuz thats actual art) but didnt know where to start. How could I do the furret boi justice with just piano?
So as I was thinking about that, a brilliant idea struck me while watching collaborator RichGCs memetastic yet great acoustic videos: why not add more instruments? Rich is a master of many memes and a motley mishap of musical instruments, so he gladly gave me plenty of stuff to work with (including some hilarious video footage) and I managed to put it all together into probably one of my biggest video projects yet!
And so with that, Ive finally achieved another of my dream memes to cover. Dont worry though, Ive still got more ideas coming up for high-quality memery 👀But thatll be soon™️...

Alright doods, todays upload is one heck of a doozy, and I cant be more excited to share it! In a way, this sorta feels like a big finale vid for Year 6 since this has been the mother of all collabs for me (as this year has been all about collabs ever since the Gates of Hell cover with Tyler Jenkins), but Im still aiming to make more vids as long as I still have my piano this summer, so lets just call this a big crowd-rousing selection before the encore.
So why this song from this Street Fighter spin off game of all covers? Well, just about a year ago (when I started Year 6 back last August), I had just gotten into watching Youtuber/streamer Maximillian Doods content, and his vids and streams introduced me to the FGC along with all things Capcom. Especially during some of the hard times I faced at the end of the last year when I debated whether or not to still do Youtube, his vids always helped put a smile on my face and get me to keep shining on so in a way he inspired me to keep going with piano. To thank him for all his efforts, I wanted to do this cover of Youtube outro music, Precious Heart (Sakuras Theme) which is a DOOD-CERTIFIED bop!
However, since this piece involves a small band, I had to go looking for another collaborator. And who else to approach for a jazzy fighting game song bop than the grooviest of lads, The Consouls? Ive been listening to them for years, and since they especially have an interest in fighting game music, I thought it was worth it to attempt to reach out to them. In the biggest shock of this year, they readily accepted and had their parts ready in no time! Im eternally grateful for all the support theyve had for this video and Im so honored to be able to play alongside them.
Anyways, Im so happy that this crossover of Infinity War proportions is finally out for yall to see and I hope you guys enjoy it! That isnt it for content from me for this year though, so stay tuned for whatever the heck I have might think of doing for the next vid. The finale will hopefully be the Top 10 Zelda Songs Medley for the 10,000 subscriber special, so be sure to tell your friends so we can reach that milestone!

So I did say on the last vid that Ive been getting into Monster Hunter music...
The idea for making this chill cover actually first came from @Soundole announcing his annual Chillout Contest for 2021. Since I got 3rd place back in 2019 but didnt get to enter last year, I was wondering what track I should try out for this year. Now since Ive been getting into Monster Hunter, of course I started watching a ton of videos by @gaijinhunter. In the background of a lot of his vids he plays this track, of which Ive heard so much that Ive unconsciously started whistling along with it whenever watching his vids! I thought it would be the perfect track to arrange into a long, calm, and relaxing tribute.
Honestly I didnt even realize that the track length maximum for the Soundole contest was 7 minutes, the arrangement just somehow ended up being that long after I came up with the ideas for it. I threw in a ton of the techniques I know and combined them with some of the fun arrangement bits from the Monster Hunter Jazz album version of this song. Even for a slow & easy song such as this, playing any tune for 7 minutes straight with little to no mistakes is a small marathon (especially with the tricky bits I added in every here and there for atmospheric flair). It took me a lot of work and effort to put this together, so Id very much appreciate if yall could put this on repeat for some background music to help relax & study to! Any support against the awful Youtube algorithm would be much loved and appreciated.
Now that Ive covered Lon Lon Ranch, Crimson Sunset, National Park, AND Traverse Town, I realize that Ive been covering a lot of town/village/locale themes this year. Theyve been some of my favorites to arrange/learn and I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
