From July 1976, a serial killer stalked the streets of New York City with his .44 caliber revolver for almost an entire year until finally caught in July 1977. He attacked young women, even brazenly shooting them while they sat in parked cars with their boyfriends. As he terrorized New Yorkers, the killer sent letters taunting the NYPD. In one of them, he identified himself: 'I am deeply hurt by your calling me a wemon hater. I am not. But I am a monster. I am the "Son of Sam."'
Note that this program was made in 1992. As of 2020, David Berkowitz remains incarcerated in Shawangunk Correctional Facility. He has since converted to Christianity, and has his own official website maintained by a church group: ariseandshine.org
