Although the Highlander came much later than Caesar's invasion and was in an area North of "Gaul", I wanted to share some common (and not so common) facts about the early Celts and Romans in general. Forgive any typos and thank you all!
The old man is impressed by a skillful Roman centurion who breaks from camp to challenge him to a duel. Every year, laying road, Rome closes in. He hopes to survive this fight against one of their commanders; if he does, it may delay them from reaching Mrs. Highlander.
Although the Highlander comes much later in history, I wanted to give a brief account of small facts about what we know of some of the early Celtic peoples and their traditions, along with a bit of common knowledge about Roman centurions.

The comments you all left in my last video (for anyone who needs it) overwhelmed me with gratitude as well as sympathy for what some of you have gone through. I wanted to write to all of them and instead wrote the poem at the end of this video. My heart is with you all.
I find a little escape in video games but writing (really slowing down my thoughts to focus on images that bring forth greater meaning to my life) really helps me so much more. The prompt for this video is:
Your narrator or speaker describes something that is confusing to them. Then something happens. (***Dont be afraid to write from an emotional place that is true to your life but use your imagination and take time with your images!)

Summer solstice, will I be able to read the language on the welcome mat in front of death’s door? Will I feel beneath my feet the cushion of the welcome as I step forward? Maybe writing is my way to slow down time so I can throw time, like the Milky Way – across a page, or screen. My DNA says I’m 100% star. I might get some Chromium yet out of a single moment, just as blues and greens, in my wife’s eyes, also form in wood when it’s petrified underground along with carbon and oxides of iron. Once upon a time that petrified wood stored sunlight, before it turned into a stone that blossomed colors of a bursting galaxy. Look it up if you don’t believe me. If you dont believe me, try burying these words in your heart.

SIMPLE JOYS - The old man and his wife always tried to be kind to each other. They enjoyed laughing, even if it was over the smallest thing, because laughter often comes from shared pain, and each of them knew great loss.
Many of their kin and closest companions had lost their lives in battle, or to sickness; some had taken their own lives. They wrote on their walls a list of pleasant things, things that made them feel calm. He couldnt remember whose idea it was, nor could he remember, as more time passed, who wrote each item, but he remembered the list word for word:
The sound of rain on leaves
in the middle of the afternoon,
when the sky’s a golden grey.
Hand-pulled noodles
in a golden broth.
Soil, plants, clouds and ocean.
A plaid pattern on a kilt.
Watching the horses run,
the ones with amazing names.
Also, the really free horses
humans cannot name.
Being quiet enough
to understand
something.
Thoughts that are lyrics
others can sing one day.
Victory is fighting
for what is right; it is
also strength to love
when the fight is over.
And laughter! Our laughter!
So what,
if we cant explain
what was funny
to begin with?
