My first visit to Micahux State Forest in southern Pennsylvania. I patched together some trails in Caledonia State Park, Michaux State Forest as well as the Appalachian Trail to create a pretty fun 12.5 mile loop.

For this trip I used maps for -

Caledonia State Park: elibrary.dcnr.pa.gov/GetDocument?docId=1753179&DocName=CALE_ParkMap.pdf
Flat Rock Trail System - Michaux State Forest: elibrary.dcnr.pa.gov/GetDocument?docId=1743706&DocName=Flat%20Rock%20Brochure.pdf

The Appalachian Trail Parking area is located approximately 0.5 miles east of where the AT crosses US Route 30 on Rocky Mountain Road, across the street from Caledonia State Park. Google Maps: google.com/maps/place/39%C2%B054'22.2%22N+77%C2%B028'44.7%22W/@39.906156,-77.4797267,19z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m4!3m3!8m2!3d39.906156!4d-77.479083

To follow the path I took:

* Midland Trail east to Furnace Dam connecting to -
* Thaddeus Stevens Trail north to -
* Chambersburg Water Line Trail east to -

* Milesburn Rd (right) to intersection with Birch Run Rd to -
* Unnamed Trail that parallels Milesburn to Long Pine Run Parking - Lunch -
* Follow unnamed Trail back to intersection of Birch Run and Milesburn Roads -
* Follow Milesburn Rd approximately 0.3 miles to -
* Wigwam Trail on the left, northwest to -
* Stillhouse Hollow Road (left) west to -
* 5 way intersection, this is where you hit the Appalachian Trail, turn left on -
* Ridge Rd/Appalachian Trail for approximately 500 feet to -
