Solar Eclipse Niagara Fallsl April 8, 2024
We may be a little incoherent because we're totally hyped after experiencing what was one of the most profound experiences of my life.
It was cloudy as hell and we figured we'd see nothing after driving 8 hours. We were told from the Air Reserve Base in Niagara Falls area not to bother going into NF proper because of the traffic and the crowds etc. But at around 12:30 we observed that there wasn't a car in the hotel lot and everyone who said don't bother, left to go somewhere else. We decided to through balls to the wall and just go for broke and amazingly, we got to the Falls within 20 minutes, the usual amount of time, we found FREE parking in a parking garage. Had our folding chairs, parked our carcasses by the Niagara River with a view of the Falls, and had a front row seat! Miraculously, the sky cooperated and gave us several clear views of the Eclipse in varying stages, and then the earth went absolutely, and startlingly pitch black at around 3:20 in the afternoon. It was preceded by a significant drop in temperature as we lost the sun's heat. It's amazing how significant the sun's rates are to our existence.
