Part 1 of 2 building a solid wood carpenters workbench. In this part I cover making the top itself including breadboard ends and front vise, using Elm and Iroko.
Part 2 will cover the build of the base cabinet and drawers.
The vise I fit in this video is the Axminster Professional Quick Release 310mm Vise. The instruction book that came with it is York branded. Designed to cut a profile into Conti-board/MFC (melamine faced chip board), melamine mdf, plywood and solid woods, when folded 90 degrees, it creates a seamless outside radius.
There are though some challenges to overcome for the router bit to be successful. Are these challenges worth the effort? This I explore in the video and I think the answer is clear.
