Only possible as 2P. The developers apparently forgot to disable the controls for 2P as they're falling into the boss area, allowing you to bypass some barriers that 1P normally wouldn't be able to, thus allowing the Metal Slug to climb the vertical barrier if you held down right. Goes to show just how much effort was put into this stupid game.

Holy crap this game is so bad it's almost unbelievable.
