Mario's Journal:
Day 28
We avoided the blizzard, but we didn't avoid Jr. Troopa. He took a few magic lessons and beating us was part of his final exam. I hate his new magic tricks. I'm glad that Lakilester and Parakarry were able to get the drop on him though. It allowed me to whack his wand out of reach.
Anyway, we continued on the path to Starborn Valley. We passed by a large mountain with six snowmen next to it. Each of the snowmen had a hat and scarf. Well, all of them except two. One didn't have a scarf and the other didn't have a hat. How strange.
A monster tried to stop us from entering Starborn Valley, but when we beat it...it was just a bunch of Star Kids. Merle ran over to us after the kids flew away. He explained that the Star Kids do this to scare Bowser's followers away. I feel bad for hurting the little guys. I guess we should've sent word ahead.
Merle took us to his home. He told us that he knows where the last Star Spirit is. It's inside the Crystal Palace at the top of Shiver Mountain. The Crystal Palace used to be a place to worship the stars, but it fell out of use. It's possible Bowser and his minions found it a while ago and decided to use it as a base.
Since it's been so long since anyone has been to the Crystal Palace, Merle doesn't know how to get there. He does have a clue though. A scarf. There doesn't appear to be anything special about it. Merle told us that we'll need something else that's been passed down in Shiver City.
We went back to Shiver City and I asked Mayor Penguin about it. Mayor Penguin gave me a bucket. It's just...an ordinary bucket. We decided to walk back to Starborn Valley to see if Merle had any ideas, but Watt stopped us when we reached the group of snowmen. She pointed out the missing hat and scarf.
I wondered if putting the scarf and bucket on the snowmen missing pieces would work. I tried it and the snowmen spoke. They thanked me for the scarf and the hat. Then the snowmen moved and a doorway appeared. This had to be the way to the Crystal Palace!
We went in and saw a stairway leading up the mountain. As we climbed, we ran into a duplighost that tried to disguise itself as Kooper. These duplighosts need to learn how to keep their insults toward me to themselves. They're so easy to pick out. I hope we don't run into any more.
