Mario's Journal:
Day 8
It turns out Parakarry has dropped a lot of letters throughout the Mushroom Kingdom. He said he'd come with us and help in exchange for finding the rest of the letters. Well, I figured he would come in handy crossing the desert, so he's now a member of the team.
We climbed the rest of Mt. Rugged. We barely escaped an encounter with a giant vulture! Luckily her eyesight wasn't very good. We made it to Dry Dry Desert. Now we just had to find Dry Dry Ruins.
We met with Kooper's neighbor, Kolorado, and his assistants. Kolorado is also seeking the ruins. He hasn't found any clues, but he did mention that some of his assistants went to Dry Dry Outpost nearby to look. He pointed us down the path to the town, but he also said there was an oasis nearby.
Goombario suggested we check out the oasis first since there might be a clue there. Then we can go to the town and ask the locals if they know anything.
The oasis was very refreshing. There were even lemon and lime trees here. We grabbed a few to add to our supplies. Some of the locals in town were willing to speak to us, but there were several who outright refused. We split up to ask around. Parakarry found out from spying that he noticed a strange hooded mouse talking to the shopkeeper about some secret meeting. Goombario heard that this mouse was called Sheek and he gave you information if you gave him something good.
Kooper and Bombette heard that if we are to find the ruins, we have to speak to the founder of the town, Moustafa. I decided to speak with Sheek and offered him a lemon for information. Apparently lemons are his favorite. Lucky guess!
Sheek told us that to meet Moustafa, we have to buy a dried shroom and a dusty hammer in that order. The shopkeeper will tell us where to go next. I hope he's right and we're not being swindled.
