Day 35
We were...too late.
We weren't so late that we don't have time to fix this though. When we made it to the top of the tower, we ran into Byrne. He fought us. Zelda helped immensely! Her armor protected me against his attacks and her phantom strength was able to pull him to my level. That gave me enough time to slash him.
Byrne escaped after I had wounded him. Zelda and I followed him to the very roof of the tower. There we saw Cole and Zelda's body. There was this swirl of dark energy that surrounded her. Then her eyes opened...they weren't her eyes. They were the eyes of a demon.
Malladus and Cole betrayed Byrne. Byrne did not get the power he sought since he used to be a servant of the spirits. Zelda and I were ready to fight Cole and Malladus, but they escaped in the Demon Train! Zelda tried to chase them down. I tried to stop her, but I wasn't strong enough. It took the soft words of Anjean to pull her back to her senses.
Anjean was alive! We weren't sure what to do next, especially about Byrne, but Zelda carried his unconscious form to our train. I'm sure he won't hurt us. Anjean boarded the train as well. She told us that Byrne had bested her and she couldn't stop the resurrection.
If only we hadn't made so many stops...we might have been able to stop this in time. Anjean assured us that we were right to focus on restoring more tracks. In fact, restoring more tracks bought us more time.
Zelda asked Anjean if there's anything we can do to stop Malladus. Anjean believes that the Bow of Light hidden in the Sand Temple will allow us to remove Malladus's spirit from Zelda's body. There is a risk though. Anjean fears that Zelda won't be able to enter her body after we use the bow. I'm sure Zelda will be able to enter her body though but the risk...it scares me too.
I asked if there were any tracks leading to the desert where the Sand Temple is and Anjean gave me a force gem. That definitely restored tracks to the desert. Anjean also told us to find the Lokomo, Rael, and he would help me restore tracks to the Sand Temple.
Anjean and Byrne are remaining in the passenger car. Anjean has promised to watch over him and make sure he isn't harmed. Zelda believes he won't hurt us when he wakes. If anything, he may be helpful to us.
We traveled straight to the Sand Sanctuary in the very center of the desert. It took some time to get there though. It didn't help that the desert was super hot! I thought I'd melt being that close to the engine in that heat.
At the Sand Sanctuary, I found Rael. He seemed more at peace than the other Lokomos. Rael taught me my part in the duet. The oboe he played sounded beautiful.
More tracks appeared, but that's not all. Rael told us that to get to the Sand Temple, we have to go through the three trials. The three trials are the Big Eye that looms in the shadows, the Forgotten Tunnels, and the Impenetrable Temple.
We'll have to prepare for those. Rael also told us that the temple itself is full of all kinds of traps as it was meant to protect the Bow of Light. He wished us luck. I hope we're ready for it. I also hope we have enough time before Malladus gets used to his new body.
