Retro Tech & Electronics | Smith & Wesson Model 19 Cylinder Lock Defect on New Pistol @retrotechandelectronics | Uploaded May 2022 | Updated October 2024, 20 hours ago.
I had recently purchased this model 19, chambered in .357mag. At the store we had gone through a close inspection and everything appeared to be operating correctly. The problem as I had discovered simply was not evident until spending hours going through the unit in its entirely. It would seem that the pin for the cylinder does not fall back into position leaving the release forward, locking both the trigger and the hammer as well as not securing the cylinder correctly into battery. This occurs one our of every eight or so attempts to open the cylinder.
Because our gun store has a zero exchange policy once you walk out the door, even though it was brand new we had to turn it in for factory repair. How it left the factory like this is anyone guess. When it comes back ill make a followup video.
