Ever wonder why South Metro Fire Rescue sends the resources it does on a cardiac arrest call? Because every second and every role matters. This simulation shows how each crew member has a specific job to perform life-saving measures:
Bringing the ER to you - Peer-reviewed data shows the best chance of survival comes from high-quality, on-scene CPR with minimal interruptions. Since SMFR does not use mechanical CPR devices, additional responders are essential to perform effective manual CPR, often for 30 minutes or more.
Advanced capabilities - Our providers can perform an ultrasound during resuscitation, giving real-time insight into heart function.
Patient movement & safety - Extra hands are critical to safely carry patients out of homes or businesses while protecting both the patient and our crews.
Leadership & family support - A Battalion Chief, EMS BC, or EMS Captain often responds to provide clinical guidance and support for families in crisis.
