An eastbound ride from Stratford to Leyton which (for many months) has been a 'slow zone' where trains travel at reduced speed. This is said to be because the track is noisy and at normal speed the noise is barely bearable. The most pronounced noises can be heard just before the train leaves the tunnel, at approximately 2 minutes and 15 seconds
Most of the route is in tunnel, and once the train has left the tunnel it speeds up (a little) before coming to a halt at Leyton station.
As there is very little to see when looking out the window of a train in a tunnel I've added a Central Line 1992ts slide show, which comprises a mix of photographs from when the trains were new to a refurbished train as seen in April 2025.
Unfortunately the option to add a location for this film failed to work - I typed 'Leyton railway station' - even though my footage proves that this place exists the Google / YouTube system did not recognise it as a valid location!
