I was in a hurry, and as every woodworker knows, being in a hurry leads to creative new features. If you ever want to make your own shelf pins, this video shows one way to do it. If you don't have a router table, you could probably rig up a jig to do the same thing with a hand saw, bandsaw, or whatever you have available.
The final product shown at the end was made from ambrosia maple I milled years ago from a tree that came down during a hurricane, and the contrasting details on the front of the door were from plum trees that likewise got knocked over in strong winds. The hinge was a cut-off from an old piano hinge. Other than the finishing materials, this project cost me almost nothing to build and was made only from things I already had in the workshop.
