New border control procedures are creating major disruption at airports across Europe, with some travellers facing waits of up to five hours.
The delays are linked to the EU’s Entry/Exit System (EES), which became fully operational in April. Under the new rules, most non-EU nationals must provide biometric information when crossing the border to enter the Schengen Area.
Speaking to Roundtable, Travel Journalist Simon Calder warned that travellers should expect delays and disruptions and plan their journeys accordingly.
