On the night of 15 July 2016, the Turkish people united to defeat a bloody military coup attempt by the Fetullah Terrorist Organisation (FETO).
Citizens stood firm and the attempt failed. The fugitives of the terror organisation then fled, many of them to Europe. Despite hundreds of extradition requests sent to countries within the EU to deport individuals linked to FETO, few have been returned to Türkiye to face justice.
