Sharon Lynn Makarenko is a multi-instrumental musician and composer, living on a little island off the west coast of Canada. Studying classical piano from an early age, she continued her studies into her early twenties, completing specializations in piano performance and pedagogy.
She has continuously enjoyed an active musical career participating in numerous musical projects and collaborations of various genres. She has written extensively and performed everything from classical to folk to rock.
Minimal and contemplative, her music is influenced by her classical roots…from Bach and Chopin to Philip Glass and Johann Johannsson. She is fascinated with the human experience…of the passing of time, of distance, and the space between, how we relate to these things, and through these, to each other…the human experience of love and loss, and the beauty found in the smallest moments.
”Ousia” is a piece for solo piano....inspired by this beautiful Greek word meaning our essence or true being.
