Ruthie (Ruth Buzzi) reads the story of Star White (Louise Gold), Snow White's cousin, to some kids (including Lexine) in 1994. When asked, the mirror (Jerry Nelson, not as flashy as his other mirror role linked below) can't tell who the best-looking person in the world is, he hasn't seen everyone! So, a parade of kids look in the mirror as he assesses their assets ("You've got pretty brown skin!", "You're pretty too! I like your eyes.") and declares, "Everybody is good-looking in their own way." Pretty great sentiment then and now, kids.
At the risk of outing myself as a big old wuss, hearing this tender Jerry Nelson vocal performance made me tear up a little. So lovely.
And what a joyful way to end! I'm assuming Star White's "fainting" was a complete surprise to Ruth. Love that laugh!

Posted in honour of @Ruth Buzzi's 84th birthday today. Happy Birthday, Ruth! She stole our hearts as Ruthie, the owner of Finders Keepers, a second-hand store, "Around the Corner" on Sesame Street from 1993-1999. Among other roles on the show, Ruth also voiced Suzie Kabloozie and her cat, Feff, and made an appearance as the Fairy Godplant (Ep 3971, 2001) granting Stinky the Stinkweed's wish to be bigger.
Do not miss her love duet with Sweetums (Richard Hunt), "Can't Take My Eyes Off of You" (The Four Seasons hit), from "The Muppet Show" (1976) linked below. It really highlights the wonderfully fearless physical comedy this gal was best known for. My whole family howled along to "Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In" (yeah, I'm an old broad, too, lol), especially her antics as THE old broad, Gladys Ormphby, bashing the amorous dirty old man Tyrone (Arte Johnson) with her purse (video below). I can't think of a kinder compliment than what Caroll Spinney himself said, "She's like a Muppet herself." Have a stupendous day, Ruth!
