South Korea's peak electricity demand in September hit a record high for any September as scorching heat drove demand for air conditioning.
According to Korea Power Exchange's data on Wednesday, the average peak power demand in September this year was 78 gigawatts, up 6-percent on-year, almost reaching July's peak of 80-point-5 gigawatts.
And despite Korea normally getting cooler, the average lowest temperature in a single day that month was at 20-point-9 degrees Celsius, the highest ever for any September since 1973.
And as "special" summer discounts do not apply in September, higher electricity bills are expected.

Today, the weather is clear across the country. Tomorrow, this clear autumn weather will continue. The daytime temperature will rise to 25 degrees Celsius in Seoul, so it will feel cool. However, the daily temperature difference is more than 10 degrees, so you will need to have a jacket handy.
Rain is forecast in most areas except for Seoul and northern Gangwon-do Province on Sunday. The amount of rain is up to 40 millimeters on Jeju Island and 5 to 20 in the southern parts of the country, so it wont be much. However, the wind will be strong with rain around the coastlines so the waves will also be high.
Tomorrow, Seoul and Gwangju will start off at 13 degrees.
Highs will move up to 25 in Seoul, Gwangju, Daegu, Gyeongju, and Jeju.

Good morning. What a dramatic change in the weather in just two days! Many northern inland regions are waking up to the chilliest morning of the season, many took the day off yesterday so the morning chill feels a lot colder than Mondays morning commute. Highs will also be far lower going into the low twenties.
Seoul and Daejeon get up to 21 degrees Celsius, Busan makes it to 23 degrees. Central regions will be sunnier than southern provinces.
That means there will be stronger UV rays for central parts of Korea, dont forget your sun gear when heading outside.
Meanwhile, for tomorrow, Typhoon Krathon will have a minor impact on Korea. Jeju and Gyeongsang-do Province are forecast to see up to 60 millimeters of rainfall. The rest of the country will also have a wet National Foundation Day, tomorrow.
Temperatures return to seasonal norms as we get close to the weekend, but there will be frequent rain on Jeju and southern provinces for the next five days
