Hello Everyone,

September's well overdue poll is finally ready. My apologies for the delay once again. This time around we have 6 new samples.

The first is a magical, foresty track called "Glowfly." We have fading strings, an echoing guitar and airy woodwinds providing us with an ethereal atmosphere not of this world. An almost banjo-like guitar called the Requinto takes our lead and some bass strings add a little depth. I was about to write that I was imagining myself wandering through an ancient, magical forest, then the thought struck me how many of these "magic forest" samples I've done. A few... They make me feel good!

Next up is our horror sample, "The Vault." This is a more ambient style track you might hear as the backdrop in a darker show. Nothing really melodically going on, as it's solely focused on providing an eerie backdrop and not taking away from what's going on in front of us. There are lots of synthetic sounds in this. The high-pitched percussion and bending strings being the real "organic" elements.

Third track is our lighthearted, comedy sample, "Just Hangin' Out." We start with some lively clarinet playing short notes to set the tone, some kick drum and bass. The flute takes the lead and a small trumpet section and harp/strings pop in and out as the answer the main melody. This is another one of those tracks where the bass could almost be the lead melody, which I seem to be doing in these lighthearted tracks. I think that feel-good pluckiness is hard to resist.

Next comes the True Crime sample "Surveillance." This is more of a Sci-Fi or technology rendition of True Crime. Because of the synthetic elements here, it sounds like we're dealing with some kind of hacker ring or maybe some kind of internet stalker. We have echoing plucks, distorted sound effects, blaring horns and fading strings creating an atmosphere of darkness.

"Cyber Ninja" is our fifth sample. It's a rock hybrid with orchestral and maybe Sci-Fi elements? We've got a synthetic bass, orchestral strings, rocking drum set and a rock lead guitar. I just kept getting the picture of some sort of super soldier developed to kick the crap out of anything that got in its way.

The last one is another horror track that I put together very rapidly at the last minute. Found a bell in one of my libraries that I really love and just started messing around. This one is a mix of ambience and melody. I especially like when the organ comes in playing those sweeping up and down scales. It provides horror, strength and uncertainty. It is "Castle Dracule!" I can see this track turning more down the melodic path if it went on longer.

I'll start a private poll for the second tier and higher to cast their vote for the piece they want finished. Voting will end October 24th, so there's plenty of time to decide!
