Today we have the super-late December poll for 2022. There are 6 new samples ready to go!

The first is a magical, fantasy track named "Arcane Forest." The harp and intro strings set the mood immediately. Then once everything enters and our piccolo takes the lead melody, we're fully immersed in this world of ancient knowledge and mysteries. I almost get an Elven vibe too. Maybe they, or some other fantasy race, inhabit this wondrous wood!

The second sample is our horror track called "Voices in the Mist." We start with a low, droning soundscape and distorted voices that fade in and out. After the intro, we have shrill, bending strings to send shivers up some spines. We have the piano repeating deep notes and playing short runs on the higher notes, which echo and fade into the fog. Spooky!

Up next is an idea I was kicking around originally as a commission for a Podcast. The job ended up falling through and I kind of liked it. The original sample was only 20 - 30 seconds long, so I gave it an intro and reworked it into this. It's kind of a gritty, synth piece that has tones of both darkness and heroism. I imagined this for a hero who has seen so much destruction and evil over time and it's wearing him down. But he's strong and vows to keep fighting no matter what! This is "One Hero."

Fourth is a tension-building, underscore kind of thing named "The Standoff." It starts slowly and gradually more layers are added to ramp up the tension. We have some pulsing synths, bending strings and percussion that intensifies as things heat up. I imagined this playing literally, as the title suggests, in a final standoff between our hero and villain.

Fifth up is "An Unlikely Crew." This is our lighthearted sample that starts with playful woodwinds and our scratchy sounding percussion called the Guiro. They are soon joined by some bass guitar and the trumpet, which plays the melody. It adds a little sense of adventure. So I got an idea that this theme was for a group of unlikely travelers who fall in with each other by chance and embark on a quest. I imagine they are arguing and fighting all the time, but they all end up growing very close.

Last one is our True Crime sample called "The Motel." We have low, droning synths with some creepy, echoing piano and other sound effects all meant to create an unsettling atmosphere. In a bit of a nod to a classic killer, we have some high-pitched, stabbing strings. Just don't take a shower while listening to this and you should be good!

I'll start a private poll for the second tier and higher to cast their vote for the piece they want finished. Voting will end March 12th, so there's plenty of time to decide!
