Hello Again Everyone!

This month we have 6 new sample tracks ready to go.

The first is "The Elven Princess," a soft harp and flute track with a fantasy vibe. We start softly with the harp strumming a few chords while a whistle takes our main melody. After the intro, a second harp joins and plays an ascending pattern while the Bazantar provides some bass notes. When our melody returns, a flute section and cello join in to make it sound fuller and more vibrant. This is a theme for a princess from a purer land in a lush forest somewhere.

The second track is called "Assimilation." This is a dark, Sci-Fi track that blurs the line between ambience and melody. There are short musical phrases here, but a lot of this track relies on the percussion, the bending strings and all the weird sounds spliced throughout. They were giving me a kind of alien feeling and given how serious this piece is, I immediately imagined an impending invasion.

The third track is an orchestral/fantasy piece named "Without You, There is No Meaning." I started this with the Gregorian choir because it's been awhile since I had used it and I wanted to try my hand at another Arthurian legend or church-like track. As I began writing, this evolved much more into a somber, fantasy track that was giving me a "Dragonheart" feeling. I felt like something great had been achieved, but at such a high cost, was it really worth it?

This next track started out a little differently than I anticipated as well. I was beginning on a creepy stalker track, so I used a bombed out piano to create an off-kilter, suspenseful feeling as if we were constantly being watched. As I progressed, the tone became a bit mixed with some sort of struggle. I felt the external stalker I had envisioned begin to merge with the person being stalked. I realized they were actually one and the same, thus this track became a fight to try to retain sanity and definition of oneself. It's named "This Thing Crawling Inside."

The next track is an Indian hybrid called "The Maharaja's Dancers." I really do like the sound of eastern stringed instruments. They have an intrigue and almost archaic mysticism to the tone. This track has a bit of a seedy feeling as I imagined myself in the great ruler's temple at some sort of ceremony. As the dancers perform their routine, they move in a well-rehearsed, almost ritualistic, fashion. I added in a beefy drum kit as the main motif repeats which I thought really added some weight.

And lastly we have "Psycho on the Organ." I basically loaded up an organ and started messing about. The intro is a few short phrases strung together in choppy, maniacal fashion. I imagined some psychopath sitting in his room at the organ just playing himself into a frenzy... I just realized that got personal pretty quickly... Anyway, an actual melody doesn't begin until about 40 seconds into it. I went with a sweeping, almost waltz like thing meant to illustrate our psycho's madness.
