Today we have the super late June Poll with 4 new samples. I apologize for the lateness! Things at work have been extremely hectic the last few weeks.
The first is our horror sample called "The Lady of the House." It's a dramatic horror piece kind of in the vein of "The Summoning." I kept thinking of vampires and thought this might be a good theme for a lady vampire who has her own abode off the beaten path, where she lures passersby and feasts on them.
The second is "The Six Million Dollar Villain," which, by today's standards, might actually be a pretty cheap super villain... Anyway, I was thinking of a retro film kind of robotic super-soldier constructed with one thing in mind - Pure Destruction. We've got synthetic brass, plucks and pads mixed with orchestral string sections and a metal drum kit for a neat little combination.
The third track is our more lighthearted / comedy outing. This one has a goofy, sinister feeling to it. I was going almost for a Tantalus kind of theme from Final Fantasy 9, for anyone familiar with it. I liked it being a bad guy kind of track, but it having an upbeat kind of feeling. Maybe our bad guy or gang is a bit clumsy? Maybe they're extremely loyal and friendly to each other and that gives us a warm, cozy feeling as they rob that castle or bank!
Lastly, we have our true crime track. This one is a slow tension builder and a little experimental. The main synth plucks are all over the place, playing notes in and out of key. The piano and percussion are steadily building, but just kind of providing the pacing. Finally, our strings burst onto the scene and we're in full panic mode. The call is coming from inside the house!
I'll start a private poll for the second tier and higher to cast their vote for the piece they want finished. Voting will end July 24th, so there's plenty of time to decide!

First off we have Times Running Out. We have some off-kilter piano, low punchy bass hits and the ever increasing sound of a clock ticking in the background. This is a tension-building track I imagined could fit in some Noir film or show where our detectives are looking for a kidnapped victim and theyre on a very strict timetable.
Our second piece is Heavens Dream. It starts with light, fading strings and a harp to put us in that ethereal frame of mind. The flutes and whistles enter to carry our main melody and whisk us away into the sky. Toward the end the harp and lute raise an octave for a nice soft send-off.
The third is an unnamed Snes Overworld Theme. I was messing around with retro sounds and found the backing strings I used here. I started playing them in that march-like rhythm and the piece pretty much wrote itself after that. The brass takes the lead and some timpani add some adventurous strength as we explore the land.
Fourth up is Death Ambience. This is a mood setting piece I thought could be used as a dark background track for a cult-like ritual. The deep starting instrument is actually a mangled sitar playing quite lowly and its the cornerstone for this track. The ghostly sounding instrument that takes the lead is a theremin.
The fifth piece is a middle eastern track called Across The Vast Sands. I used some middle eastern sounds strings to place us in the midst of a sprawling desert. The cinematic percussion and flute sections add some depth while the bending horn reinforces the fact were in some Arabic desert.
Next up is Metal Viking. This is a hybrid of sorts featuring heavy percussion and ripping guitars. I imagined a viking character from old thrust into a sort of steampunk or even modern era. This certainly has some dark undertones, but I felt it was more about strength. This viking isnt messing around and hes certainly not intimidated to be out of his element. Hes here to do serious damage.
The seventh is a kind of swing beat hybrid. I used several things in here I havent really touched before, including a weird vocal, laughing kind of effect. The Sax and Clarinets combine to take the lead here. Im not entirely too sure what to say about this one as it was very experimental. Ill say what my parents used to say about me when I was born. It just kind of happened. Haha.
The last track is He Sees, Always. This is purely ambient, background tension stuff. The cello does play a small melody consisting of 3 notes, but its not really a melodic track. I imagined a stalker or horror villain who keeps popping up everywhere I am. Hes watching and waiting. What he wants, I dont know. But its most certainly sinister.

This is a remix of my track called Labyrinth of Lost Dreams. I found the old file and cleaned it up a bit with some newer techniques and tools Ive acquired over the years.
Its got some atmospheric elements mixed with melodic choirs, some piano and strings. It was meant to be a kind of nightmarish fantasy piece where reality was slowly frayed away, leaving us in some kind of alternate reality that feels all too real.

This is an epic orchestral track called I Will Find You. I imagined a stand-off between our hero and villain. A controversial turning point where the protagonist realizes he has to stop this evil being at any cost. It features some fast cello and violins, booming percussion, low brass blasts and some choir.
