The Folk Village Seongeup shows the unique culture of Jeju Island: black lava stone walls, straight but curved alleys to block the wind, and grandfather stone statues (Harubang), which have become the main feature of the landscape. Local black-haired pigs and black pigsty/toilets are a very well-known characteristic of the Jeju people's culture. The black pork of Jeju is said to be very nutritious.
