After watching this review you will know what to consider when picking a microphone for recording video.
For a long time, people have used analog microphones such as the Sennheiser EW-112P, but in recent years digital systems have gained popularity.
While initially, I started my YouTube recording audio using a wired lac mic, I quickly noticed the benefit of wireless systems.
However, for the beginning YouTuber, the price of a professional system can be quite expensive.
That's why I personally started using budget lav mics such as the Boya BY-WM6, and later the Saramonic uwmic9, however, both systems are analog systems.
In fact, they work just fine and I have been using them form several years now.
If you play around a bit and dial in the right settings, frequency, mic sensitivity, input volume of your camera you will get good results from the analog systems.
However, since my YouTube channel has grown to 6000+ subscriber I thought it’s time for a well-deserved upgrade.
I was always a bit hesitant about the price but finally took the plunge, and so far the digital Sennheiser microphone works great.
I particularly like the ease of use, the AVX has a very minimalist approach, which I love, also it is very compact and lightweight, a definite plus over my old Saramonic system.
Also, the digital system can automatically switch channels should there ever be interference.
Normally I didn't have any problems with old analog systems, only a few times I had the occasional messed up audio track, which you may only notice afterward when importing and editing your video footage.
It happens very seldom, but if it happens it can be time-consuming and frustrating, so the digital systems should be much better and avoid this rare issue completely.
From my initial testing, the sound is slightly better, with the AVX having a much better output level, lessening the workload on the camera/DSLR preamp.
Overall I am very happy so far, build quality seems excellent, and later down the road, I will try the even better mke2 microphone as well.
