The Siege of Jadotville saw a company of Irish UN peacekeepers under Commandant Pat Quinlan defend the remote mining town of Jadotville against a much larger force of Katangese rebels and mercenaries, during the Congo Crisis. The 155 Irish soldiers, lightly armed and cut off from reinforcements, were surrounded and subjected to repeated assaults and air attacks over several days.
