On today's adventure, we set out to find one of Louisiana's most incredible snakes, the Louisiana Milk Snake. With bright red bands and very illusive habits, these snakes are seldom seen, so finding them is no easy task! Throw in some other snakes, an emergency wildlife rescue, and ALOT of logs, and you've got one awesome milk snake hunting adventure! As always we hope y'all enjoy this video! :D
Louisiana milk snakes are a kingsnake species found throughout the more central southern states. While known globally as a western milk snake, the ones in Louisiana are fairly different from the western milk snakes throughout the dry Midwest, living in old logs in cypress swamps and other lowland areas. They feed on small lizards and mice, as well as occasionally other snakes, and use constriction rather than venom to kill their prey. When cornered or confronted, these snakes will bite like crazy to get away, but they're a perfectly harmless species, having no venom whatsoever.
