After successfully rearing another batch in 2016, the Scrub Jay parents are at it again. This time they're back in the same tree they used for the 2015 series, with a new nest about 2 feet from the previous spot, and with 3 chicks instead of two. I'd known about this nest for over a month but this is the first time I've had a look inside. These chicks are probably a week old and are making good progress. The scrub jays seem to remember me and my camera equipment and continued on just like old times, hardly paying any attention to it at all.
These first-look scenes were shot with a GoPro Hero 4 Black in full 4K (shown here in full 1080p HD for YouTube upload). Unfortunately the camera is a little too close so part of the frame is out of focus, hence the B-Reel designation. Subsequent scenes should be improved.
