It's a 6-metre-diameter globe with NASA spacecraft footage of the Sun itself projected on its surface, so it seethes with solar storms as the light blazes out. Created by a collaboration of artist Alex Rinsler and solar physicist Prof. Robert Walsh of the University of Central Lancashire, it came for seven days to St Magnus Cathedral in Orkney as part of the 2023 Orkney International Science Festival and attracted record numbers. Graham Richardson's film shows how it looked to a visiting group from Stronsay school who had travelled in by ferry to see it at first hand.
