I'm still praying that the people who are calling us drama queens are right. I HOPE they're right because if we're being drama queens? It means that this won't be as bad as we fear. But as it is right now, no one seems to give a flying fuck about this, and far too few people know about this, and a big chunk of those that do either don't care or aren't taking it seriously.
If this law is as bad as we fear... we have every right to fight against it, be angry and be sad about it. Fandoms and fanworks are millions and millions of people's hobbies and huge parts of their lives. And fandom and fanwork are SO MANY things. It's art, it's fiction, it's videos, it's cosplay, it's playing games, it's movie reviewing and reacting... the amount of people earning money off of this, the amount of people who actually SHOULD get punished is such a small amount. And so many other innocent people will be hurt by this.
Creators' work should be protected, yes, but NOT by making a law practically forbidding fanwork and fandoms. If people aren't earning money off of copyrighted work, it should remain legal. It's free fucking promotion, creators, and it's done because people love the original movies, books, etc.
