Saturn Getting Closer to Jupiter, Plus Mars & a 98% Moon - Canon R Camera & RF 800mm Lens @Jayling

Saturn is inching closer and closer to Jupiter and will overtake it the end of December. They’ll be in opposition December 21st, 2020 - after that Saturn will be over to the right of Jupiter. With the planets being so low in the sky we’re cutting through so much more atmosphere so they aren’t coming in very well, but still it’s cool to see them this time of year. We also have Mars over in the SE with the rising 98% Moon in the eastern sky.

At 2:30 in, the various spacing of the 2 big planets from 2018, 2019 and 2020.

Oh, 6 hours later and I still couldn’t get my feet warmed back up, so never did go back out for Orion - sorry. :)

$My 1st Telescope - Celestron Nexstar 127 SLT 5 Mak-Cass Telescope (Quite Unhappy with the Quality) Update: The Celestrone 127 SLT was sent back due to quality concerns, but eventually got the William Optics GT71 triplet refractor telescope instead. Hallow’s Eve night of frustration rings in my very first telescope, the Celestron Nexstar 127 SLT, 5”, Mak-Cass telescope. An hours worth of nothingness to show but me being agitated as my cheap dot sight finder scopes, which were aligned on distant targets in the daytime, couldn’t get near the planets, even in prime focus with no secondary optics used and with using the diagonal and the wide field of view 25mm eyepiece. Besides the aggravating waste of an hour, I’m not very happy with the quality of this telescope bundle which has a very lightweight cheap tripod, and only having an 8 pound load capacity for the mount (when the telescope tube itself is already around 8 pounds without accessories attached). The icing on the cake for me is the quality of the optics. Im not sure if something was damaged in shipping but one of the inside boxes was crushed when I received it. During the daytime when filming distant objects, the clarity wasnt very good compared to my telephoto lenses, so maybe something got messed up during production or shipping. Anyway! $Jupiter, Saturn & Mars - More Testing William Optics GT71 Telescope Without Reducer - Pushed Too Far A bit more playing around/testing with the new William Optics GT71 telescope, pushing it beyond extremes, which means the quality will be quite poor due to my pushing the magnification too far. If you haven’t seen the video before this one it will show the gear used. Jupiter, Saturn & Mars with a large 1 second flyby below Mars at 8:20.
