I was a bit unprepared for filming so this will be sort of chaotic. I was curious to see how Saturn or Jupiter would come out when using the teleconverters with the Tamron 150-600mm lens. Actually it wasn’t too bad for such a cloudy night, at least at the 5x focus zoom with a bit of crop zoom in Final Cut Pro too. It kinda surprised me how well they came out on such a bad viewing night. I’m hoping it’ll be even better when the skies are clearer.
Now most of my bewilderment was cut out so it may be hard to understand, but as usual Jupiter was the only thing I could see by eye. I pointed the camera in that direction, saw it clearly on the monitor as it was the brightest object up there, and as usual Saturn wasn’t visible on the monitor at the settings I had on. The focusing zoom of the camera put a square around the bright planet, but when zooming up, it ended up being Saturn. Saturn never comes in that bright for me! I still don’t know what exactly happened because like I said, Saturn is very very difficult for me to find, and the brightest object up there was - well, it was Saturn (lol).
Later I tried to justify it because the field of view was so small, but that didn’t make sense because the square focus zoom was centered over the sole bright object which should’ve been Jupiter, but wasn’t. Hence it was a lot of confusion for this old gal. :)
