We caught up with one of Texas’ most spectacular winter visitors.

Every year, thousands of sandhill cranes come to Texas for the winter. Their calls can be heard for miles away ( Sound on )

With a 5-foot wingspan, these tall, gray birds gather along the Texas coast and in the Panhandle,

The wetlands around Houston are a hot spot. This footage was captured at the Coastal Prairie Conservancy's Katy Prairie Preserve.

Our video producers went undercover among the flock while working on a story about one of Texas’ natural wonders.
