Salt Spring is a bluegrass instrumental written by mandolinist John Reischman. In this fiddle lesson I show a simple version of the melody, and then look at drones, double stops, hammer-ons and cuts to give it more character. I discuss how to approach a solo, and finish with an extended improvisation. A free pdf of the sheet music is available to subscribers (see below). There are plenty more free video lessons on bluegrass fiddle tunes and techniques elsewhere on The Fiddle Channel.
