The Sacramento RT 200 series were built by CAF (Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles, S.A.) and were delivered in ~2002 to 2003, supporting service expansions and supplementing the older Siemens 100 series. They are CAF SRV-I cars, numbered 201-240. Here they are in 2025.

CAF opened a new plant in Sacramento to complete final assembly and testing of the cars. At the time, CAF won a series of contracts across the US including WMATA and PAT cars.

They are a bit heavier than the original Siemens 100 series (47 tons vs 38.9 tons), a bit longer (84 feet vs 79.5 feet), with more complex brakes and propulsion systems. The CAF cars have sliding doors, more standing space.
