The original fleet of the SkyTrain system is still in service 40 years after opening day in 1985. Here are clips of these cars alongside supplemental Mark I cars seen on the Expo line in 2025. Originally built by UTDC as part of the new Intermediate Capacity Transit System (ICTS) system, the Mark I cars are smaller than traditional rapid transit cars (measuring about 40’ long by 8’ 10” tall), driven by linear induction motors. Now being replaced by new Mark V cars, the Mark Is have entered their sunset years.
