Running has gotten weirdly intimidating, am I right?
Run clubs.
Strava screenshots.
Race times.
“Easy runs” that are not easy and are clearly zone 5.
Everyone casually posting paces that make beginners feel like they don’t belong.
That’s what I mean by runflation.
The standard keeps feeling faster and faster.
Here’s the thing though:
In my book, you don’t need to run a certain pace to be a runner.
If you’re getting outside, moving your body, and stacking miles, that counts. I see you baby.
Some people are chasing PRs.
Some people are rebuilding confidence.
Some people are trying to lose weight.
Some people are training for a race.
Some people are trying to prove to themselves that they can do hard things.
All of that counts.
Don’t let someone else’s pace make you feel like your effort doesn’t matter.
