This is Rougarou at Cedar Point. Originally , it opened as Mantis as a Stand Up coaster on May 11, 1996 but it grew so rough that they made the decision to convert it into a Floorless coaster. This coaster was originally going to be called Banshee, which is a wailing female spirit whose wail would foretell a death in the family in Irish folklore. The name was dropped after it was printed in the newspaper which caused a bit of an uproar. Rougarou is a werewolf like creature in French folklore. Mantis was built by B&M at a cost of twelve million dollars and kept its name until 2014, when it was changed to Rougarou. It is 3,900ft long, 145ft tall with a 137ft first drop. It has four inversions with a loop, a dive loop, a inclined loop, and a corkscrew in that order. Rougarou's top speed is about 60mph and has an average ride time of about two minutes and forty seconds.
