Drill one: Hold the take off position. Swing the left leg to inversion whilst keeping the right knee up. This is designed to improve core strength. Aim to rotate around the shoulders and not break early at the hips. A dynamic left leg adds energy to the vault.

Drill two: Rope climbs: This is an upper body strength training exercise. Use the feet initially. Control the descent. As the athlete gets stronger then they can do the drill without using the feet. Again this adds to the core strength and the stability of the vault.
