There are an unknown number of stories about Earth’s history stored inside these boxes of rocks! They’ve found a home in the Dredged Rock Collection at Scripps Oceanography, which houses more than 4,000 dredge hauls and related archive materials. They are preserved so current and future scientists can reveal these untold stories, with help from funding from the National Science Foundation.
