Roc is a typical Istrian town, although not due to its size because only 150 people live there, but because of its rich cultural heritage. Like all other historic Istrian towns it is located on top of a hill and only 8 kilometres away from Buzet. It is hard to resist its beauty and perhaps it would have been known only as just another romantic town from a tourist guide had it not been for its extraordinary cultural heritage based on the Glagolitic script. The most important Glagolitic graffito of medieval Istria was discovered here - the Roc Glagolitic Abecedarium. It is not only the oldest, but also the most complete abecedarium, with 34 letters.
